Germany Guest of Honour 2009!
Held for the first time in three halls of the KievExpoPlaza from 15 to 18 April 2008, elcomUkraine and EIA Electronics and Industrial Automation 2008 ended on a very positive note and once more confirmed their status as Eastern Europe’s landmark showcase for power and electrical engineering, energy efficiency and industrial automation.
All Ukrainian and international leaders were at the start at this 12th edition, altogether 442 enterprises (+ 8.0%) from 13 countries on a net exhibition area of 10,576.75 sqm (+ 14.9%). 383 exhibitors at elcom, and 59 companies at Electronics and Industrial Automation.
They discussed business with 14,423 visitors from Ukraine and all over Eastern Europe (+ 5.5%). “Excellent business” and a “very good quality of trade visitors”, this is what the exhibitors resumed after four days.
The visitors’ survey proves that elcomUkraine and EIA are decision-makers events where more than 90% of the visitors are independent decision-makers or advise and participate in the decision-making process.
For elcomUkraine, the organizers Euroindex and fairtrade proudly presented the Czech Republic as Partner Country 2008. A premiere for Ukraine’s exhibition practice, the aim of this initiative was to promote the development of trade and economic relations in power engineering and electrical engineering between the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Within the framework of the Partner Country program, an official Czech Pavilion featuring 16 exhibitors had been organized by the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. The Czech delegation also actively contributed to the conference program.
On April 15 2008, the event was officially opened by high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Municipal and Housing Affairs, the Ministry of Fuel and Energy, the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association ZVEI and the organizers fairtrade and Euroindex.
In addition to important presentations of all of the leading multinationals, the following highlights made elcomUkraine 2008 a very memorable event:
An official German Pavilion with 23 exhibitors presenting latest developments in the fields of power engineering, energy-efficiency and electrical engineering. The German Pavilion was sponsored by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and supported by ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association.
And for the very first time at elcomUkraine, a national Turkish pavilion was organized by the Turkish exhibition company Türkel. Here 37 exhibitors displayed state-of-the-art technologies on 850 sqm. The Turkish Pavilion was supported by DTM – the Turkish Undersecretariat for Foreign Trade.
An integral part of elcomUkraine had once again been its action-packed program of professional conferences, presentations and seminars, which allowed all professionals to make new business contacts and learn about latest technologies, as well as to participate in discussions on major issues in the industry and share experiences through personal contacts with industry leaders. The following events were of particular interest:
- The conference entitled “The Ukrainian Lighting Industry: the Current State and Prospects”.
- The seminar on “Protection of Measurement and Control Devices from Lightning Strikes: Regulation, Design, and Implementation”
- The competition “Innovations”, which is traditionally carried out among products and solutions presented at elcomUkraine.
New services had also been introduced for professional visitors:
- the Career Workshop opening up new opportunities for career development
- the Business Meetings Zone providing a convenient environment for B2B meetings at the trade show.
Next year’s elcomUkraine has been scheduled for 6 to 9 April 2009, and all official pavilions and major exhibitors have already reserved for this 13th International Power and Electrical Engineering, Energy Efficiency and Industrial Automation Trade Fair, the one and only ufi-approved event of its kind in Ukraine.

The impressive German presence at elcom and EIA 2009 will be sponsored by the German Ministry of Economics and Technology in cooperation with the Association of the German Trade Fair Industry (AUMA) and will be supported by ZVEI - German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association.
